Five minutes walk brings you into Pujols, a 13th century medieval village made up of a double row of ancient wrought stone buildings that crown a rocky promontory. Tastefully restored, Pujols boasts the "Prettiest Villages of France" label.
Infact, Pujols is the mother of the local riverside town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot and was also once a barricaded bastide. Just 2 km from Villeneuve, Pujols was first a Celtic Oppidum, then a Roman Town called Podium (whence the Occitan Pujols), meaning a High Place. It was almost entirely obliterated in the 13th century Cathar Crusade fighting during the Albigensian Wars. So ravaged indeed, that Villeneuve was founded down on the river.
But in this part of the world there are so many hundreds of years of history and deeds attached to practically every building and stone, we'd need a website of thousands of pages to recount even half of all the interesting places to visit and see.
So the tourist people here have drawn up all sorts of circuits and tours: medieval chateaux, fortified villages, rivers, orchards, vineyards, the list goes on forever.
And for organised pastimes, nearby there's also
Golf
Tennis
